What is the intention of
Scotland Against Sectarianism
We are an organisation founded to fight sectarian activity in Scotland.
Please read the 4 Pillars section underneath in particular and we ask you to sign the petitions against Sectarianism and Sectarian marches In Fife where we are based
We generally endorse Humanist views but welcome people of faith who object to sectarianism in Scotland. It goes without saying we are profoundly anti-racist and welcome peoples of all origin, as well as LGBT people. We note also there are many Catholics and Protestants embarrassed by their faiths association with Celtic and Rangers sectarianism, they are welcome.
People who support Celtic and Rangers are refused entry to The Scotland against Sectarianism Society (our full name) Sass for short. As are members of the Orange Lodge and associated organisations, the Knights of Columba as organisations that have a history of sectarian activity. This will be regarded as entryism. So to people who have fascist or racist views not welcome. Please note that at the present time there will be no membership until we become more established.
Sectarianism is not Multiculturalism
We view Scotland as failing [because of sectarianism] to achieve proper multiculturalism which we endorse. Saying we are a Nation that it's self is culturally attacked, lost both it's main languages, it's parliament, had all it's main religions attacked by forced incorporation into a larger nation, this nation still running much of our society. We wish both to protect & promote
our own culture as a minority group Gael and Scott and endorse others enriching us with their peaceful interaction as they arrive in our nation -which we view very positively.
We view that Old firm bigotry particularly fails these standards and is part of that repression we reject it. We view the culture they promote as unpleasant, violent to the point of not infrequent murder, obsessively divisive, religious/socially conservative and a poor representation of the best aspects of the culture of modern reformist Ireland. Obsessed as it is with the sectarian politics of Ulster and trying to reproduce the institutions of that society here as causative of sectarianism. Attempts to represent it otherwise as a mere veneer on a truth that is unpleasant, violent, sectarian and morally wrong.
We oppose the following as the central principles of our beliefs
Hate Marches
Sectarian Football
Segregated schooling
Coercion by the group
The Four Pillars
The Four pillars
We expect our members to endorse the following as minimum standards. Our Four pillars as it were.

We wish to see the Orange lodge refused the right to march and made illegal as the single worst sectarian institution in Scotland.
We wish to see, the Old Firm, Celtic and Rangers, heavily sanctioned until they reform and drop their sectarian violence and behaviour. If they will not reform then closed.
We wish to see a single state system of education for Catholic high schools and State high schools in Scotland - with proper provision for seperate RE. As the present system is deeply socially divisive. Creating in many aeras of Scotland a religious Apartheide.
We endorse also the rights of the individual within the law to choose their path in life without bullying from the group or families. Also rights of private privacy, so often attacked by sectarian groups.
What we stand for
We wish to deny to Sectarian groups acts of;
Violence
Invasions of privacy, slandering and shaming people
Workplace bullying
Stalking or following people
Misrepresenting people
Entryism into political groups
Particular sectarian groups being over-represented in areas of work
People who endorse Sectarianism in political positions
We would seek to expose this as it becomes apparent because this is how they gain their control on society.
Other views we may like to put forward;
Asking political parties not to endorse sectarian candidates particularly those who support Celtic & Rangers
We campaign against religious coercion and for people given free choices in the matter of their conscience irrespective of what they are born into or their families or peer group's views
That a far more rigorous view on sectarianism is taken by political parties
That exposure on TV of Rangers and Celtic be limited, by perhaps asking for a ban on the coverage of Old firm matches to start with -How? Easy just ban cameras from operating
That exposure on TV of Rangers and Celtic be limited, by perhaps asking for a ban on the coverage of Old firm matches to start with -How? Easy just ban cameras from operatingA unit of the police be formed to follow sectarian groups
More media exposure of sectarianism in Scotland, try to get the true views of the supporters. Asking why there is so little discussion of the issue in the media
Asking media personalities who follow the Old firm to justify themselves
Exposing and discussing the ownership of Celtic & Rangers, shifting the attention from the players to where it belongs the club owners profiteering of hatred, discrimination and murder
Increasing public awareness of the history of sectarian development in Scotland
Increasing awareness of the number of victims of sectarianism
Have the Kirk and the Catholic church explain why their condemnation of sectarianism is so limited
We ask that Scotland be declared a secular society, where no particular religion is endorsed as representing the nation as unfair to other faiths. Asking thus that the Kirk be disestablished in the face of representing only a quarter of the Scottish population and that people of no faith now represent at least 45% of the population even a majority -a particular unfairness
